Lada Cars

Just read in the news today that Ladas might be coming back to the uk.This brings back memorys for me .My Father bought a Red Lada riva when i was 18 years old .It was my fathers first new car Bright Red with sport wheel trims and racing head lights . He loved it mum thought its just a car but for me and my brother this was a disaster in fact my brother never went into it he point blanked refused for me it was diffrent you see I had just passed my driving test and had a great desirer to get on the open road .
So i had to make a choice have a driving licence and no car or use the car I chose to use the car
you see in those days it was about having freedom not how good you look in your car .
The deal was simple at the weekends i took my parents were they were going and picked them up the car was mine so off I would go every weekend now this is were things changed advantages of driving a lada at the weekends
1 some of your mates would not get into the car so you never had to taxie everyone around all night
2 have a takeaway in the car with vinyl seats things get spilled you just cleaned it up
3 the engine was not great and the steering terrible and the gears were terrible so no stupid boy racer stuff you had to drive the thing
4 cold weather never bothered it snow was nothing for it so weather was not a problem
5 driving a lada gives you some humility
6 girls did get into the car but that was thanks to the local taxi firm in falkirk that used ladas as taxis
7 Drunken guys would get into your car thinking it was a taxi you made some pocket money (only did this a couple of times )
Driving a lada is a experience i will never forget but i don't regret it
mum does dad tried to teach her to drive and she ended up crashing in to the side of the house big crack up the wall its still there today
Bring back the lada I for one don't think its a joke now

My wee caravan

A few years ago we were able to buy a wee caravan it was after someone crashed into my SRI my pride and joy and the insurance company decided to pay me instead of the garage so it was written off and i got £2000 back .We were able to buy my fathers vectra get a tow bar fitted and still had £1000 left not a lot for a caravan but Susan loves a challenge but after looking on the Internet she found nothing
Then one Sunday we took a drive to Kincarden Caravan Sales nothing then Susan seen it it was stuck in the corner the salesman sayed it was a trade in and he admitted he knew very little about it .He went to get the key and we had a look and the min we went inside we fell in love with it. The best thing about it was the price she was just what we were looking for .The owner just wanted rid so we got her for £900 result . When we decided we wanted a caravan it was after many years of camping and with the money we knew it was never going to be high end but we all love Buzz as it is called god knows why Ewan just called it that.
The First Trip was to St Andrews we spent one week at St Andrews Buzz had two my brother had a week with his family
After setting up a Tv Ariel that could contact Nasa and parking up the caravan with some help from fellow caravanners we were settled and god do we love it there is nothing like camping ,caravanning .Get a good caravan park and there is nothing more relaxing that caravaning
freedom for you and your kids friendly people .
Buzz is a old caravan well made but old but i tell you it stood up fine against the better caravans and i am proud of my wee caravan
This year its Scotland again hopefully starting late may weekends away

Blackpool

A few months ago Susan suggested we took Ewan to Blackpool during the Easter Holidays.Halyleigh was away on a school trip so I agreed .What i did not know was it was a coach trip we always when down by car before I always though coach trips were for OAPS But anyway i agreed and by the time the day came for us to be at the bus station i was looking forward to the coach trip .But one thing I was right about was the oap anyway This is the story of Blackpool by coach Friday morning at the Bus station 8.30 Bus pulls in and i got pushed out of the way by the grey brigade no joke they were pushing passed you to get their suitcases onto the bus before you what i did not know is these buses don't hang about 5 Min's everyone was loaded and on the bus. First bus could learn a lesson here the bus journey was uneventful 4 hours of 50s music but we sat at the back but when we got to the hotel that was a different story before i got off the people going home were sat down on the bus if your not fast you could have been on your way home before you know it . Now the hotel not five star but show me a hotel in Blackpool that is but it was clean the beds were hard and you got a TV but walking into that reception with all these grey haired handbag swinging old ladies it was a nightmare give them a suitcase and you have to watch your shins .we stood back and waited no way was i going into that battle but with great skill the reception staff had them cleared within 5 mins well i say ed had them cleared they had them with their room keys waiting for the lift now a lift in a Blackpool hotel is top class this lift took 2 people at a time and they had just had delivered 2 coach trips so just imagine the scene .When we finally got to the reception desk the booking in was a tick on a sheet of paper what was holding up the queue was the fact you had to decide what you wanted for dinner this is something i have never heard of before ordering your dinner when you book in .
Finally after carrying the suitcase up 3 levels of stairs we did not wait for the lift we got to our room no sea view that was a extra £10 per night plus those rooms were just above the entertainment suit not a good idea . The rooms were clean in fact the rooms were lovely pity the view was of a fire escape but no worries .Ewan wanted the Tv on so great keep him happy the only thing was were was the remote after looking for it fond out the remote was at reception and you had to pay £10 deposit for it so off i when to get it .
When i went down i booked dinner and was told that's your table and that's your time cant change it all with a polish accent
Any way Dinner time came and we when down stairs sat beside 4 old lady's from motherwell lovely they were PISSED AS FARTS but lovely Ewan loved it but it was like sitting with a strict aunt or granny and it was me they were picking on
After dinner and a little more information about the 99p special promotion and what time the bingo was on we went out side to have a cigarette what a laugh that was little old lady for hamition was holding court in the smokers corner making sure everyone could hear how upset she was that she could not smoke in her room and that she would be here at 2 in the morning to HAVE HER NIGHTTIME FAG and every time we left the hotel in the 2 days we were there she was there sitting having her fag
Saturday was the pleasure beach £80 expensive but fun at it was worth it to see Ewans face on the teacup ride the weather held out for us and we had a great day but we did miss all the excitement of Armed police raiding a hotel 2 doors along it turned out a guy had phoned in to say he had a gun and a bomb did they close the road no just when in gun ho and brought him out we missed it all but fag lady from hamition brought us up to date better than Sky news
Sunday was the tower and after finding a token that let Ewan in for £1 result we spent a great day at the tower mokkie the clown was great .Jungle Jims for ewan it is worth the money.
I all ways wondered what was the attraction of Blackpool for the older generations maybe the hotels walks on the beach entertainment nope its none of these its this
THE MARKETS MARKETS yes these oldies travel hundreds of miles to go to the market Fleetwood seems the fave Blackpool a close second
Shopping on the golden mile is a experience but go into one you went into them all but finding the bargain is what its all about in Blackpool
What i love is the auction shop My Father was all way a sucker for it and a holiday at the beach was never the same if my father did not buy a cheap dinner set or crap radio for £10 when what he wanted was the top of the range camera he never got it
The sights in Blackpool are amazing by the way this is the hen and stag party's not the tower its ok
Would i go back to Blackpool by coach again
THE ANSWER IS YES NEVER LAUGHED SO MUCH IN A LONG TIME
AND THE OLDIES KNOW HOW TO PARTY

how to get your garden tidy and keep a five year old happy

With Susan going shopping for birthday presents for Ewan .I was left in charge of keeping Ewan busy today Susan suggested we paint his play hut inside so I got some left over paint and away we went. He loved painting with dad and we got it done in no time then what well we needed to plant his sunflowers and other flowers that i have forgot so we did that .
As we were doing that and with Ewan's great digging i noticed that the garden furniture and decking needed cleaned out with the hose connected to the outside tap and away I went.Well after five Min's Ewan was asking for a shot so i gave him the hose with the strict instructions no Soaking me so stand back Dad and with clear instructions he cleaned all the garden furniture all the decking all his outside toys and my car and he loved every min of it RESULT
